To God be the Glory!!! ============================================================================================== The Manila Chamber Singers (MCS) is composed of young professionals and students who share a passion for fine choral music. Founded in April 1999, the Choir’s membership has expanded to include choristers from the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in Metro Manila. MCS performs a select programme of standard international choral gems as well as commissioned arrangements of popular music and OPM specifically suited for the choir’s unique choral sound. MCS has since performed in several concerts and outreach performances in the Philippines’ important cultural venues. As part of the Group’s continuous labor for progressive choral excellence, the Manila Chamber Singers embarked on its First European Concert Tour in June-July 2004 with the distinct honor of representing the Philippines in various choral events. MCS represented the Philippines in the 10th Levanto International Choral Festival in Levanto, La Spezia, Italy; and at the Alta Pusteria International Choral Festival in Sudtirol, Italy wherein the choir garnered critical acclaim. At the 18th International Festival of Academic Choirs (IFAS) in Pardubice, Czech Republic, MCS won two Gold Diplomas in the Mixed Chamber Choir Category and Best Interpretation of Czech music, Silver Diploma in the Folksong Category, the Audience Prize and Finalist in the Grand Prix IFAS. The choir finished Fourth in the Folksong Category at the 41st International Choral Competition in Spittal an der Drau-Carinthia, Austria. At the 3rd Choral Olympics in Bremen, Germany, MCS won the Silver Medal in the Musica Sacra Acapella Category and Bronze Medal in the Mixed Chamber Choir Category. The Choir is the presentor of the annual choral festivals: THE COLORS OF WORSHIP - A Festival of Sacred Choral Music; and the MANILA CHORAL FESTIVAL ============================================================================================== JOSE EMMANUEL D. AQUINO Conductor A graduate from the U.P. College of Music with a degree in Voice, he emerged as a distinguished tenor with repertoire encompassing different genres. Since his operatic debut in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, he has been featured as soloist in several concerts in the country’s top cultural venues. He is an alumnus of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and the San Miguel Master Chorale - the Philippines’ first professional choir. Mr. Aquino is regularly invited as choral clinician/vocal coach by various choral ensembles and schools in the Philippines. For the MCS' 2nd European Concert Tour, MR. DEOGRACIAS FORTUNATO CRUZ, an alumnus of the San Miguel Master Chorale, Philippine Madrigal Singers and the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, will be the guest conductor.
